Petrol gets costlier by Rs 3 per litre

New Delhi: Petrol prices are set to go up by Rs 3 per litre from Wednesday - with oil companies citing a rise in global crude prices and pointing out they are still losing money.Oil marketing majors including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) are hiking petrol prices by almost Rs 3 per litre. New prices have already come into effect at BPCL outlets, others will follow suit from Thursday.Since the government deregulated prices in June this year, petrol prices have been on a rise. After the early November hike , Oil PSUs have once again raised petrol prices - this time by almost Rs 3 per litre, the higest hike in 6 months.
 
In Delhi, prices have gone up to Rs 55.87 per litre from Rs 52.91 earlier. In Kolkata petrol costs Rs 59. 77 now from Rs 56.81 rupees. In Mumbai and Chennai, consumers will have to shell out Rs 60.31.
